Metallic Tape – Innovative Gas Leak Repair Tape

Mtallic Tape

Overview

This tape comprises a lead sheet (0.4mm) known for its exceptional tactile resistance and formability. This sheet is laminated with a high-adhesive layer (0.8mm), primarily made of butyl rubber. By removing the release paper and wrapping this anti-corrosion tape around the corroded hole (combined with a protective tape), gas leaks can be effectively sealed.

Features

Anti-Corrosion

Both Santac Roof 6 & 7 tapes and metallic tapes provide excellent insulation resistance, chemical resistance, and water tightness. The adhesive layer adheres strongly to corroded pipes. Once repaired, it shields the pipe from external corrosive environments, ensuring superior anti-corrosion performance.

Metallic Tape Feature

Applicable to Complex Joints

The metal tape, which uses a lead plate for reinforcing corroded pipes, fits well onto complex joints such as sockets and screw parts. Moreover, the Santac Roof 6-7 tape has a reinforcement rubber sheet that’s flexible and made of non-vulcanized rubber, making it easy to relieve stress. It adheres well to the wrapping section, fits onto uneven surfaces, and can easily be applied to complex joints without the need for a specialist.

Excellent Pressure and Impact Resistance.

The metallic tape provides significant resistance against external impacts, soil pressure, and internal pressures, due to the synergy of various materials, including lead sheets.

No Flame Required

Safe for gas leak point repairs since no flame is involved.

How to Use

1. Surface Preparation

Temporarily seal the corrosion hole or leak area with putty or tape. Clean an area spanning approximately 20 cm before and after the leak with tools like a wire brush, removing any anti-corrosion tape, soil, sand, mud, and loose rust attached to the pipe. Dry the area and ensure the pipe surface is exposed.

2. Wrapping with Metal Tape or Anti-corrosion Rubber Tape

  1. Before wrapping with the metal tape, attach a thin polyester film tape over the corrosion hole, removing any putty. The length of the tape should be determined so that the adhesive overlap around the corroded area is at least 1 cm.
  2. Over the thin film tape, wrap the metal tape around once, like rolling a cigarette. When wrapping the metal tape, start on the side opposite the corrosion hole and ensure at least a 30mm overlap.
  3. After wrapping with the metal tape, press firmly using a hand roller or equivalent. Pay particular attention to pressing thoroughly at the overlapped area and any level differences.
  4. When starting to wrap with the Santac Roof 6 & 7 tape, wrap the width of the tape around once. In the middle, use a half wrap per round, and finish similarly by wrapping the tape’s width around once at the end.

3. Wrapping with Protective Tape

Wrap the Anti-corrosion Green Tape with a half overlap for each round over the Anti-corrosion Rubber Tape or Sheet.
